Saw @erikamoen give a talk about Online Self-Promotion today at Stumptown Comics Fest. It was pretty great.
Some of it I already knew, but sometimes it takes hearing it come from a person who makes a living doing what I’d like to be doing to make it stick.
Lots of good advice, including not to be a dick.
Haha! Ben drew a cartoon of me giving my talk about Online Self Promotion at the Stumptown Comics Fest today! This was probably the point I came back to most over the 45 minutes I had with the audience.
C’mon guys, don’t be a dick!
Désolé je suis en retard! Voila, mon premier BD français :)
My awesome studiomate, Natalie Nourigat, and I have started a Tumblr to post our journal comics in French! She’s learning the language for the first time and I’m trying hard to re-learn it after years of letting it rot (not that I was ever fluent in the first place).
If you’re interested in watching us butcher the French language, head on over to Deux Américaines.
Later, I drove down from Boston to dear old Easthampton, Massachusetts (also known as the place I used to live) to help out at Webcomics Weekend, which was a complete blast. Got to hang out with a bunch of friends I hadn’t seen in months, and on top of that, I met a whole bunch of really awesome new people.
So, what did I do when I got into town?
Erika and Dylan—besides both being super-talented ladies—are also great sock diorama-ers. I am pretty proud of our Dumbrella sock-sculpting antics.
More sketches in the coming days, after I recover from the absurdity of East-to-West jetlag. (I am sorry in advance for the terrible likenesses.)
(Actually, I’m pretty sure I did say something along those lines. Or at least though it, because godamn but that was a pretty bitchin’ sock display!)
Adorable! Dr. Mrs. The Monarch and The Monarch Cosplay!
The hair is just perfect.
