Oh my goodness, I’ve been really blown away by the responses to my Queer comic. Seriously, I’ve gotten teared up over the heartfelt emails from my fellow queers who have gone through the same experiences as I have <:) The love and support I’ve received for it mean the fucking world to me.
I’ve also been asked about making the comic available as a print! So, hey! That is a thing now! (For a limited time)
The smallest size I could make it and still retain its legibility was a whopping 8.5” x 24” That’s, like, two feet long :O
So yeah! That is my update. Uhm, hope ya had a good weekend?

Queer (English Version)Alright friends, I got the English version online! I just wanted the first day’s worth of hits to go straight to Projet 17 mai, since they’re the ones who asked me to contribute, y’know? /:)
DISCLAIMER: Since this comic is addressing sexual identity, I only included sexualities under the Queer umbrella— although, obviously, queer also encompasses many gender identities as well.
As I said in my post debuting the French version,

Projet 17 mai contacted me several months ago about creating a comic on the theme of homophobia, and though it is definitely something I’ve experienced (being denied service in shops, having people throw garbage, being followed by howling gangs of men, etc. just for holding my girlfriend’s hand), I actually have been more hurt and upset by the biphobia I’ve experienced from the LGBT “community” for falling in love with and marrying a cisgender man. Even bisexuals have been needlessly mean because I feel the term “queer” is a better fit for me instead of “bi” (it’s totally cool if “bisexual” is the term that works for you!! It’s just not the one for me). Basically, the Identity Police have been very hurtful to me (and others who are attracted to multiple genders), so that’s what I did my comic on.

Queer (French version for Projet 17 mai)
I’m so excited that I can finally share my new comic with you guys! Many, many thanks to Dwam for correcting my original (hilariously bad) translation and turning it into something readable in French.

#IsawU
A while ago, Brendan Adkins did this ingenious creative writing project on his Twitter account called #IsawU, in which he wrote out fake personals ads that doubled as 140 character short stories.
I was so delighted by them that I wheedled him into letting me turn them into an illustrated 16 page mini-comic! And by mini, I do mean mini. 2.75″ x 4.25″, to be exact!
You can get a copy this weekend at Table B-8 during the Stumptown Comics Fest!

New Comic Day! Bisexuality fits pretty neatly into the LGBT acronym, but sometimes it still makes no sense to me.

That’s about the size of it.

I’ve been raging on Twitter today about how batshit insane it is that Virginia is proposing that uterus-bearers undergo trans-vaginal ultrasounds before being allowed to have abortions. This means that a doctor, even if he or she knows that it is unnecessary, must probe inside the vagina to obtain an image of the fetus. Forcing an object inside someone, even if their pregnancy is a result of sexual assault.
That’s all it is; insane. No man, no person, nobody has the right to tell you what you can or cannot do with your own body. It’s horrific and ugly and I don’t know how else to describe it. Nobody deserves to be raped because of how they were dressed, or shamed because they are unable to or don’t want to give birth, or told on any level by anyone that they are a lesser person for having sex at all.

Yup. This news from Virginia left me feeling physically ill all day.

Oglaf by Trudy Cooper is close to my golden ideal in comics. Fun, sexy, clever, and lovely to look at. It’s sassy and sometimes silly, but always adult.
When I first started making my dirty comic Small Favors in the early 2000s, one comment I heard a lot was “You don’t usually think of a woman making porn comics”, and another was “Oh! This is actually a lot of fun! What a surprise!” A decade later, thanks to women like Trudy Cooper, Erika Moen, Jess Fink and many others, I never hear that first comment, and it’s not a surprise any more!
We live in a world where blood and horror are considered appropriate for general audiences, but flash a nipple, and you’d think from the cries of outrage that Satan had just been handed the keys to the puppy farm. Comics like Oglaf exist to turn that world on its head , and we’re all richer for it.

The last names of a couple of the creators are wrong (Married or otherwise =P) But here is the cover bitches. Sairobee is our cover artist and that makes me joy pee a little bit whenever I think about it.

Yaay! I am so excited for this book to come out!
(Leia Weathington being, of course, the author of our porn story for Smut Peddler)
