It is funny (It is not funny. It is sad.) how everyone wants to see naked pictures of women, but nobody wants there to be real, living, breathing, feeling, thinking human beings behind those photos. Pictures are just supposed to spring out of a void, but oh my god, should there be an actual identity behind that picture of a naked woman? GASP. HORROR. HOW COULD SHE.

That’s what bothers me as well. But then, I can’t simply ignore the fact I’m also one of those guys who consumes pornography—either implicitly or explicitly.

Wish I’d be more wise.

There is a huuuuge difference between having attraction and sexual fantasies about someone and actually objectifying them.

Sexual attraction/fantasy: Feeling attraction towards someone and thinking sexy thoughts about them for your own arousal and private gratification. TOTALLY FINE!

Objectification: Dehumanizing a person because you find them attractive, seeing them as purely a sex object there to gratify you and feeling entitled to them without respect for their own wants and needs. NOT COOL!

So yeah, watch porn and feel aroused by sexy people, that is human and nothing to feel ashamed of.

Ask yourself: When you see a sexy person (in real life or in porn), do you feel entitled to have actual access to their body? If you were to speak with them, would you act respectful? If they were to reject your hypothetical advances, will you behave graciously or like a jerk? I hope it’s obvious which behavior is objectifying.

It all comes down to this: Remember that the people you find attractive are whole human beings. Appreciate your attraction and the masturbation material they provide, but behave respectfully to them in real life (including talking about them online).

Enjoy your porn! And then when you’re done, take a moment to be thankful those performers are people who made porn for you to enjoy.

The Smut Peddler Pre-Order Project is now live!

What is Smut Peddler?

In 2003 a black-and-white, anthology minicomic called Smut Peddler was released by Saucy Goose Press. It contained “sex-positive, female-friendly erotic comics from the best and the brightest in the independent small press publishing world,” and participants included Carla Speed McNeil (Finder), Layla Lawlor (Raven’s Children) Sean Bieri (Jape), and Tom Beland (True Story, Swear to God). It was a fantastic series of comics, with three issues published before its extended hiatus.

This project has pulled Smut Peddler out of the mothballs and once again gifted the world with quality filth, but in the format of a square-bound, standard-sized, black-and-white book. The new Smut Peddler contains over 350 PAGES of lady-driven dirty comics.

This pre-order event will not only put excellent comics in your hands, it will also determine the bonuses of SP’s authors. They’ve already been paid for their contributions, but the more money this Kickstarter makes, the more money they get.

Who’s participating?

The Smut Peddler Kickstarter is LIVE! We have 23 days to raise $20,000 to make this porn anthology a beautiful, sticky reality!
What is really exciting for the contributors is that if the original goal is met, all additional funding is going straight to the creators as cash bonuses. This is, sadly, kind of revolutionary for an anthology and especially one that is female-focussed. I’ve always said, if people want more professional female comic creators, those ladies need to get paid. With cash dollars. Like a professional.
I posted previews for Easy, the story Leia Weathington and I created for Smut Peddler, back in January, but here is a refresher!

See ALL the previews on my blog. And then back the Smut Peddler Kickstarter.

(In my video post I mentioned having copies of the Sexy Times poster for sale at my talk)
Weeeeeell, yes it is back in print but, as you noticed, it is not restocked in my store yet <:)
That is because I HAVE the posters at my studio, but I’m still waiting for these plastic wraps to arrive before I make them available. See, I’ve got the mailing tubes, but I like to encase all my products in plastic just in case they get left in a puddle*, so even if the packaging gets soaked, the product inside will still be nice and dry.
*(Which HAS happened in the past. Fortunately, the original painting inside was not damaged because I send out all my orders inside plastic baggies, for just such an emergency!)
I should be getting the plastic liners in a few more days!
Don’t worry, I will let you all know when the Sexy Times poster is back ;)
What IS this “Sexy Times” poster of which I speak?

Why, only the most glorious landscape of porn you’ve ever seen!

In 2009, over the course of four days, depraved cartoonists Lucy Knisley (French Milk) and Erika Moen (DAR!) drew a porn-landscape on a giant (41″ × 26″) piece of watercolor paper. The goal was to depict every sexual act they could imagine (minus pooping and vomiting, though no disrespect is intended. They just didn’t wanna draw that). They started at opposite corners and would draw until ready to switch places. When it came time to ink, they fill up an entire section, regardless of whose pencil lines they were going over. Their styles meshed naturally and the result is a seamless sea of happy people gettin’ it on.

The Sexy Times poster returns after almost two years being out of print! See Full Size, since the picture above is tiny.

For this second printing, I re-colored the poster to the sorbet tones you see above and have printed only 55 Giclée prints, measuring 36″ × 24”. The first printing sold out almost instantaneously, so here is a second chance for all you perverts who missed out the first time around.
