Octopus love. #ScreenprintSaturday
#ScreenprintSaturday is a success!
Looks like it’s #ScreenprintSaturday again! (1 of 2 colors)
When I read http://erikamoen.tumblr.com/post/36621944757/want-to-show-the-world-you-stand-with-planned I knew I had to support it, and wanted Amanda’s face, as it was going to be a gift for her.
I was going to post a photo of hers here, but then I saw that Erika had posted all of them. And they made me happy. So you can find Amanda’s yourself…

Oh… oh golly :)
This was my project to raise funds for Planned Parenthood by drawing people’s portraits into my limited edition silkscreened prints.
Together, my commissioners and I raised and donated $855 ($1,080 when you consider some of the donations got doubled thanks to anonymous donors). You can read about creating the project here, the finished portraits here and donating the money here.
The coloring of the prints didn’t actually change in real life, but I had to use several different scanners to scan in each one and I’m not good enough at Photoshop to get them all back to the exact same hue /:)
I forget if I posted this one before?

Screenprinting in my friend’s basement.

Planned Parenthood fundraiser portraits
Alright, enough time has passed that I think the “I Stand With Planned Parenthood” patrons should have all received their screenprints and portraits by now (at least, the American ones should, you never can tell how long it’ll take international packages to arrive), so I think it’s probably safe to post all the portraits I’ve done so far!
The pink ink color on the actual prints didn’t vary in real life, but I’m afraid my ability to keep things consistent across my studio’s scanners was insufficient and I’m not terribly skilled at adjusting these kinds of properties in Photoshop, which is why the pinks look like they’re shifting shades. Sigh!
If this is your first time seeing this project, this was the fundraising enterprise I undertook in 2012 to raise money for Planned Parenthood. I talked about creating the prints here and the money donated here.
Yes, I do intend to do another one this year!

Touching up a design in Joanna’s home basement screenprinting studio (ultimately my print had to be aborted that day on account of technical mishaps).
