What garter belt (if any) do you use? …
I just got my first garter belt last month, actually! The brand name isn’t attached to it, so I have no idea who made it, sorry :-/ But I loooooooooooove it. Even though it’s being worn for functional reasons (keepin’ mah tights up), I can’t help but feel like a secret sex vixen with them on. So, y’know, double bonus.
Normally, I used to only buy straight up tights-tights (as in, ‘one piece of fabric, leggings attached to panties’), not Over The Knee tights (is there a shorter word for that? Aside from OTK, I mean), but oh my goodness it turns out my vag cannot handle the lack of air circulation that comes from wearing tights over underwear and 2011 was kind of a Yeast Infection-apalooza because of my insistence on having pretty colored legs.
To circumvent this dilemma, I cut out the crotch of all my tights that have that special little insert sewn in and all future tights acquisitions are now just OTKs, held up with my pretty black lacy garter belt.

Eh, it’s different when it’s art? But then I shoot product pictures of a lot of lady parts, so I am getting desensitised and my personal context is different.
Garterbelts are the BEST. I have one of these lacy things for girl drag and one of these for normal times. Though I use these double grip clips paired with boy shorts a lot because it’s just less gear.
“Tights”, on this side of the pond, mean the things that go from toe to waist. What you’re digging currently are “stockings” which just means “thin thigh highs and over the knees (OTKs)”. For thicker, socky stuff, “over the knee/OTK socks” or “thigh high socks” tend to be the terms. I made a diagram for work that’s on our sizing FAQ page.
For folks who work in the industry, it can get confusing when somebody is talking about “tights” but they aren’t talking about something with a crotch. Which, come to think of it, is what defines tights. Unless they’re crotchless tights. Which. I guess is like the “toeless toe socks” we sell.
Though there are tights aimed at folks who need more air circulation for their bits, garter belt and stockings are the way to go, really. You’re fancier, there is guaranteed air and it’s easier to pee, or to have sex spontaneously.
Now you have me going. I will talk all the socks. All the time.
Oh my goodness, EVERYONE (who is interested in tights/legwear) READ THIS. I am feeling hella enlightened.
And I’m super glad to learn about the Suspender Inustrial Garter Belt and Double Grip Clips! The fastening things on my garter belt are super frustrating, it’s this little nob that you have to put under the fabric that then gets pushed through this loop thing? Way more complicated than a regular old clip, but it was my only option at the shop and I didn’t have any basis for comparison.

I almost posted a photo of me wearing my garter belt for you, but at the last second I decided that was maybe a bit too much. I don’t know why it doesn’t bother me to post nude photos of me taken by Visioluxus but I draw the line at a fully-clothed shot of me in a functional piece of undergarment, but there you have it. #ContradictoryLady
Well, Tumblr, today is the fifth night of Hanukkah as well as the night before Christmas, which means things are starting to wind down at our Headquarters. So we found a few minutes to make some truly awesome products live today. These Tabbisocks Color Tights ($14, 17 colours available!) are the one thing I’ve been bouncing in my seat waiting for.
If you’ve been following us on Tumblr for a while, you may have seen my earlier post when we first got these tights in our Shop, located in the Sellwood neighbourhood of Portland. I’m happy to say that nearly everyone here has tested out the sizing, and we’re all very impressed by the fit, from the most petite to the curviest plus-sized Sock Dreamer.
And, seriously, they come in three shades of purple. What more could you ask for?
I took quite a lot of these photos! And the third row down, second from left snap is me (I did not take that one, obvs). These tights are pretty great, they fit a crazy wide range of people (because of the two smart sizes) and dang aren’t all my co workers great models?
